WILKE No. 911

  • The very floral, tart, lightly incense-like Turkish provides earth, wood, dry sourness, herbs, vegetation, smoke, and some spice as the lead component. The smoky, woody, earthy, musty sweet Cyprian Latakia is a strong supporting player. The aspects of the Virginia are grass, mild tart and tangy citrus, bread, and slight floral and spice notes in a secondary role. The Virginia and burley cavendish produces light tangy citrus, grass, bread, some nuts, earth, wood, and molasses. It takes a small lead above the other Virginia in terms of effect. The cavendish tobaccos also sport a mild cognac topping that doesn’t tone down the tobaccos much. It also tames a few of the rough edges, but not all of them. The strength and nic-hit are a step past the center of mild to medium. The taste is a slot below the medium mark. No chance of bite or harshness. Burns cool and clean at a moderate pace with a very consistent, mildly sweet and sour, floral, campfire flavor that translates to the short lived, pleasant after taste, and a slightly stronger room note. Leaves little dampness in the bowl, and requires an average number of relights. Can be an all day smoke for the veteran.
